MINUTES
Members Present: E.E. Burns, Rick Heaney, Dorothy Hernandez, Laura Holmes, Edgar
Jones, Robert Meyer, Neal Nutall, Raymond Reed, Colleen Risinger, Jean Roberts, Ron
Silvia, Yvonne Stevens, Doreen Todd and Joanna Yeager
Members Absent: Joyce Davis and Jack Hernandez
Staff Present: Marci Rodgers, Senior Services Coordinator
Vistors: Mayor Ben White, Chuck Ellison and Dave Russell
I. Call to order The meeting was called to order at 10:00am by Robert Meyer,
Chairman
H. Hear visitors Mayor Ben White was welcomed.
III. Approval of minutes from regular meeting on October 29,2007 Ray Reed
made the motion that the minutes be approved. Rick Heaney seconded the motion.
The motion passed.
IV. Discussion, consideration and possible action on housing needs of senior
citizens in College Station Marci Rodgers introduced Chuck Ellison and Dave
Russell. Mr. Ellison explained that he and Mr. Russell were interested in listening
to the committee on housing needs for seniors. Discussion took place on rental
verses owning property, desirable square footage, location, security, maintenance
and cost considerations. Appreciation was expressed by the committee and visitors
for the issues and concerns that were discussed.
V. Report, discussion and possible action on meeting with Program Sub-
Committee and the Historic Preservation Sub-committee (report
attached)Yvonne Stevens reported.
VI. Report, discussion and possible action on Senior Center Sub-Committee
meeting (report attached)Rick Heaney reported and asked the committee to
submit names of organizations that would utilize the proposed Senior Center before
December 17, 2007.
VII. Discussion, consideration and possible action on Senior Services Coordinator
report regarding upcoming programs and events. (report attached)
VIII. Presentation, discussion and possible action on future agenda items: A
Committee Member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been
given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing
policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place
the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.

Coming in December:
December 3-12 Get Fit with a Trainer
Classes offered on Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30am for $15.00.
December 3-19 Beginning Computer Classes for Seniors
The class meets on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:30 or 10:45. The cost is $55.00.
December 4-20 Computer 102
Meets on Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 9:30 or 10:45. Class fee is $55.00
December 13 Senior Christmas Dance
Please join us at the College Station Conference Center, 1300 George Bush Dr. from 7:00pm-
9:30pm for a Christmas Dance. The cost is $5.00/person.
December 7, 8,14,15 Christmas In The Park
Enjoy the lights in Central Park every night beginning November 21 - January 2, 6:00pm-
11:00pm. Special Holiday Celebrations on Fridays and Saturdays with free hayrides,
entertainment, free hot chocolate and cookies, visits with Santa and more.
