1. Called to order at 6:15

3. Visitors—Thabiti Ngozi and Mark Collins-African Arts Festival
• Art Impacts Overview-types of experience

• T.Ngozi expressed-Co-sponsorship of LRC Steve Beechy will assist with park
and recreation and promotion through the city wants letter of support from
LRCAC to move forward
• Concerns expressed by the committee-Endorsing and hosting(not profiting)will
not affect another program-vendors, use all facilities, utilities parking? Security
is a concern, usually use C.S. Police Department or county. Other issues include
utilities and 10:00 -7:00 time frame, congestion with the church.
• Would need to notify churches (start at noon)
• T.Ngozi. stated he would consider changing the time. Sunday 12-8
• K. Ford will send a letter of support by May17, 2005,with these concerns
included(10% of proceeds and unknowns and damages, clean-ups, security of
bldg. and facilities,tissues,paper towels,port a pottie,reputation of Parks and
Recreation check financial history, alcohol, parking, deposit,targeting vendors,
no admission, churches,bands playing a different times-would like an answer
next week

7. Development of TAKS Support Team
• Massive concern about the learning abilities of those who have retaken the
exam
• What are ways we can enhance student achievement?
• Teach in small groups..testing at your level,barriers are mostly African
Americans and Hispanics
• K.Ford and C. Elbert will work together on strategies
8. Cochran-pardon for June 24,no meeting in July
