Members Present: Patricia Boughton, E.E. Burns, Dorothy Hernandez, Jack Hernandez,
Laura Holmes, Edgar Jones, Robert Meyer, Haskell Monroe, Neal Nutall, Donald Pirwitz,
Raymond Reed, Colleen Risinger, Yvonne Stevens, Doreen Todd and Joanna Yeager
Members Absent: Joyce Davis and Rick Heaney
Staff Present: Marci Rodgers, Senior Services Coordinator and Rafael Martinez, Program
Assistant
I.Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 10:01am by Robert Meyer,
Chairman
II.Hear visitors
Rafael Martinez was introduced by Marci Rodgers. Mr. Martinez
has been hired as the new manager for the Senior Program at Lincoln Center.
III.Approval of minutes from regular meeting on December 18, 2006
The minutes
were approved as circulated.
IV.Distribution and Discussion of final report of the schematic design for Senior
Center by BRW Architects
Tom Parker and Katie Collier with BRW Architects
distributed copies of the final report for the Senior Center Schematic Design to all
the members of the committee. Extra copies will be distributed to City Council and
Mayor, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and staff. The committee
thanked the architects for their work on this project. Ray Reed made the motion to
support the report. Donald Pirwitz seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Haskell Monroe made the motion that the City Council and Mayor receive a note of
appreciation for their support and approval of the Senior Center Schematic Design
Project and would like to ask what suggestions they have for the Senior Advisory
Committee. Joanna Yeager seconded the motion. The motion passed.
V.Discussion, consideration and possible action on information brochure for new
senior center.
Ray Reed made the motion that the Promotion Sub-committee work
with the City Communications Department to create an information brochure for
the senior center. Pat Boughton seconded the motion. The motion passed.
VI.Discussion, consideration and possible action on Senior Advisory Committee
Goals for 2007
Members serving on the goals sub committee are: Yvonne Stevens,
Joanna Yeager and Rick Heaney. The sub-committee is scheduled to meet on
st
Wednesday, January 31 at 10:00am at the Teen Center. Suggestions from the
members for the sub-committee to consider included: Promoting the Senior Center
Project, programs at Lincoln Center for Seniors, programs such as continuing
education courses for seniors and assistance for those age 65 and over in choosing
Medicare health plans. The goals sub-committee will report at the next meeting.
VII.Discussion, consideration and possible action of Senior Services Coordinator
report regarding upcoming programs and events. (report on file)

Monroe made the motion that the committee express their appreciation to city staff
and the citizens that are responsible for the Exploring History Lunch/Lecture series.
Joanna Yeager seconded the motion. The motion passed.
VIII.Presentation, possible action, and discussion on future agenda items: A
Committee Member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been
given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing
policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place
the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.
