Hi Amy,
Dire of try co-workers here in Community Development,Betty Vermeire,is the Vice President of the Brazos County
Girding Group and works with the National Audubon Society on Binding Species in Texas. She is responsible for the city
and county counts of bird species in this area. She told me know that Brison Park has been a huge migratory area for
many bird species from around the nation.Ail of the birders in this area know about Brison Park and many of them go to
the park just to see the variety of birds that migrate there. There are over 122 different bird species that have been
recorded at Brison Park over the last few years.A birding group was at Brison Park this weekend and did hear screech
owls while they were out there..
She also noted that several other College Station parks are hotspots for rare bird species.*They are:
Hensel Park with 70 different species recorded
Bee Creek with 110 different species recoaed
Lick Creek Park with over 130 different species recorded
So it looks the birds love our parks!Just wanted to pass this information along to you al!.It is great that not only the
people in the area enjoy our parks but there are others that enjoy them as much as we do!
Thanks
