1. WINDWOOD PARK - This project has been completed with the
exception of the installation of a horizontal ladder and
some cleanup work. The project reflects much thought and
attention to the preservation of the trees and other vega-,
tation on the site.: 'It is a pleasing addition to the neigh-
borhood and should be very popular with the residents .
2. HENSEL PARK - The fitness court was installed with the help
of the B/CS Jaycees and is now complete. A contract has
been let to construct the concrete curbing and wood decks
for the playground. Also, bids have been received for the

and Parks students this fall under the direction of Dr. John

for the event and several civic groups plan to sell food and
drinks or set up game booths . All goods and services will be
sold utilizing common tickets valued at $.50 each with the

5. TEXAS AMATUER ATHLETIC FEDERATION BIDS - We have submitted

TAAF meeting in 1987 , and the TEXAS GAMES in 1988. These
bids will be voted on by the general membership at the annual

during closed session in August . They directed that an
appraisal be conducted on the site and will re-consider
this item once the appraisal has been completed.
7 . WINTER POOL HOURS - I have attached a copy of the winter
pool hours that will be in effect until May, 1986. Thomas
Pool will be serving various users beginning at 5:30 AM
weekdays and ending as late as 10 PM. The pool operation
is dependent upon the severity of the winter and hours will
be adjusted accordingly.
8. SOUTHWOOD POOL AND TENNIS CENTER - Problems still exist
with both the pool and the tennis surfacIng. The pool
is closed due to a "chalking" effect caused by the coating
that was applied to the gutters . This causes the water •
to become extremely cloudy resulting in a safety and health
hazard. The tennis court surface has again separated from
the undercoat in several areas . Both problems have been
referred to the contractor. No estimated dates have been
given for the correction of these problems and I do not
anticipate re-opening the pool again this year.
9 . LETTERS - I have enclosed copies of several letters received
by this Department recently. Some good - some bad.
