MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
BRYAN + COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
SEPTEMBER 20, 2011
On the 20 day of August 2011, the Bryan + College Station Public Library System Advisory Board of

the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in regular meeting at the Larry Ringer Library, 1818
Harvey Mitchell Parkway South, College Station, TX 77845.
1. Larry Ringer, President, called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and the following were present:

3. Other attendees were Dr. Larry Koeninger, Library System Director, David Gerling, City of College
Station, and Laura Mills, Adm. Asst.
4. The previous meeting minutes of August 16, 2011 were approved as distributed.
5. The monthly stats for August were reviewed. Dr. Koeninger will check with Wendell Gragg on the
stats for Summer Reading Program.
6. A. In old business, Dr. Koeninger reported that the Bryan budget is set for approval at the council
meeting on September 27. The City of College Station’s budget is set for final approval on Thursday,

September 22.

B. Dr. Koeninger reported that he has hired Kathy Nixie the position of Ringer Manager. She will
report for work on October 3, 2011.

iii.Experience as librarian in Plano and LaMarque
iv.Experience as a library manger
2.BTOP Grant
i.Computers have been deployed at Mounce and Carnegie.
ii.Handicapped computers are installed, but not yet made available to
the public.
iii.CS IT department is working on Ringer computers.
iv.Wendell will begin repurposing the old public computers to be used
as catalogs.
v.Our only further obligation is to provide user stats to BTOP and to
track the number of classes offered and attendance.
3.eAudiobooks
i.No current download stats available.
ii.Still having some problems with the EBSCOHost site.
iii.Recorded Books player still in development.
4.Overdrive
i.Friends will budget funds to allow BCSPLS to join Overdrive ($8,000)
ii.Access to ebooks, eaudiobooks, music, games, and movies.
iii.May replace Recorded Books as eaudiobooks provider depending on
the length of time it takes to get RB available again.
5.CTLS Fall Meeting
i.Cedar Park Rec Center, September 23 at 9:30.
ii.Meeting at 10:00.
iii.Workshop at 1:00.
