HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/15/2009 - Regular Minutes - Cemetery Advisory Committee COLLEGE STATION CEMETERY ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 10:00AM The Green Room at Wolf Pen Creek 1015 Colgate ~ College Station, TX 77840 ______________________________________________________________________________ MEMBERS PRESENT : Sarah Adams, Weldon Kruger, Randy Matson, James Batenhorst, Roger Reese STAFF PRESENT: Ross Albrecht, Forestry/Urban Landscape Manager; Robert Hole, Cemetery Sexton; Helen Banks, Secretary MEMBERS ABSENT: Virginia Reese,Bahman Yazdani, Sara Mirza, Matthew Crawley, Kathleen Ireland Call to order 1. : Sarah Adams, Chair, called the meeting to order with a quorum present at 10:06 a.m. Requests for absences of members 2. : Virginia Reese, Kathleen Ireland and Matthew Crawley sent in requests for absence. Roger Reese made a motion to approve the absence requests submitted, and James Batenhorst seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. Administering the Oath of Office and Swearing in of new committee members 3. : (Kathleen Ireland & Matthew Crawley) Hearing none, this item was closed. Presentation, possible action, and discussion on the approval of Cemetery Advisory 4. Committee minutes : Weldon Kruger made a motion to approve the August 19, 2009 minutes, and Randy Matson seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. Presentation, possible action, and discussion regarding a headstone in the Memorial 5. Cemetery of College Station, Aggie Field of Honor : (Holder, Family #93 – Lot 28, Space 20; Lot 29, Spaces 11 & 12). Ross Albrecht, Forestry/Urban Landscape Manager presented this item to the Committee. Discussion followed. Sarah Adams asked for volunteers from the Committee to make up a sub-committee regarding this item. The sub- committee members are Sarah Adams, Weldon Kruger and Roger Reese. This was an informational item only, and no action was required. Presentation, possible action, and discussion on potential wording change to College 6. Station Code of Ordinances, Chapter 1, Section 29 : Ross Albrecht presented this item to the Committee. Discussion followed. This was an informational item only, and no action was required. Presentation, possible action, and discussion regarding a variance request to place 7. crushed stone over a grave space in the College Station Cemetery : (Ginga, Family # 109 – Section A, Lot 153, Spaces 1 & 2). Robert Hole, Cemetery Sexton presented this item to the Committee. Discussion followed. Roger Reese made a motion to deny the variance request submitted, and James Batenhorst seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. Presentation, possible action, and discussion regarding space pricing in the College 8. Station Cemetery System : Ross Albrecht informed the Committee that City Council decided to increase the prices for the College Station Cemetery System. Discussion followed. This was an informational item only, and no action was required. Presentation, possible action, and discussion on construction update of the Memorial 9. Cemetery of College Station : Ross Albrecht updated the Committee on the construction at the Memorial Cemetery of College Station. Discussion followed. This was an informational item only, no action was required. Presentation, possible action, and discussion regarding gift giving opportunities to the 10. College Station municipal cemetery system : Hearing none, this item was closed. Presentation, possible action, and discussion on future agenda items: A Committee 11.
