AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
ELECTION, HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2017, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING CITY
COUNCIL MEMBERS PLACE 1, 3 AND 5.
RECITALS:
1. On July 27, 2017 the City Council ordered that a General Election be held on November
7, 2017 for the purpose of electing City Councilmembers, Place 1, 3 and 5.
2. Notice of this election was duly published in The Eagle on October 11 and 18, 2017 and
in La Voz Hispana on October 13 and 20, 2017.
3. A copy of the notice was posted on the bulletin board at City Hall on October 10, 2017.
4. This election was duly and legally held on November 7, 2017, in conformity with the
election laws of the State of Texas, and the results of the election have been certified and
returned by the proper judges and clerks.
5. The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas with the following members present:
Mayor Karl Mooney, Councilmembers Blanche Brick, Jerome Rektorik, Linda Harvell, Barry
Moore, Julie Schultz, and James Benham have today considered the returns of the General and
Special Election held on November 7, 2017.
6. It appears to the Council, and the Council finds, that the election was in all respects
lawfully held.

election is correct.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION,TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The General Election of November 7, 2017 was duly called, notice of the
election was given in accordance with law, and the election was held in accordance with law.
SECTION 2. The tabulation of votes cast in the General Election held on November 7,
2017, for the purposes stated in Recital 1 above, a copy of which is attached to and made a part
of this ordinance. is adopted as the official tabulation of the votes cast at the election, and the
tabulation will be filed and recorded in the official records of the City of College Station as the
official canvass of the election.

A. For the City Councilmember, Place 1, the following votes were cast:
Elianor Vessali 1,978
Bob Brick 2,817
B. For the City Councilmember, Place 3:
Linda Harvell 3,296
Dallas Shipp 1,527
C. For the City Councilmember, Place 5:
John Nichols 3,782
SECTION 4. That Bob Brick received a majority of the votes and is elected to serve as
City Councilmember, Place 1; that Linda Harvell received a majority of the votes and is elected
to serve as City Councilmember, Place 3; that John Nichols received a majority of the votes and
is elected to serve as Councilmember, Place 5.+
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this the 20th day of November 2017.

UNA ORDENANZA DEL CONSEJO DE LA CIUDAD DE COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,
PARA SONDEAR LOS RESULTADOS DE LOS VOTOS Y DECLARANDO LOS
RESULTADOS ELECTORALES DE LAS ELECCIONES GENERALES, CELEBRADAS EL
7 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2017, CON EL PROPOSITO DE ELEGIR A LOS MIEMBROS DEL
CONSEJO MUNICIPAL PARA LOS PUESTOS NUMERO 1, 3 Y 5.
CONSIDERANDO:
1. El 27 de agosto de 2017, el Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad ordeno que se realizaran
Elecciones Generales a celebrarse el 7 de noviembre de 2017, con el proposito de elegir a los
Miembros del Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad para los Puestos Ni.mero 1, 3 y 5.
2. La Notificacion de estas elecciones fue debidamente publicada en el periOdico local The
Eagle el 11 y el 18 de octubre de 2017; yen La Voz Hispana el 13 y el 20 de octubre de 2017.
3. Una copia de la notificacion fue colocada en el bole-tin informativo de la Municipalidad
de la Ciudad el 10 de octubre de 2017.
4. Las elecciones mencionadas anteriormente se celebraron de manera legal y debida, el 7
de noviembre de 2017, de acuerdo con las leyes de elecciones del Estado de Texas, y los
resultados electorales han sido certificados e ingresados por los jueces y oficiales apropiados.
5. El Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad de College Station, Texas, con los siguientes
miembros presentes: Alcalde Karl Mooney, Miembros del Consejo Blanche Brick, Jerome
Rektorik, Linda Harvell, Barry Moore, Julie Schultz, y James Benham han considerado hoy los
resultados electorales de las Elecciones Generales celebradas ell de noviembre de 2017.
6. Los documentos electorales son presentados ante el Consejo, y el Consejo encuentra que
las elecciones se celebraron debidamente con respecto a la ley.
7. Los documentos electorales son presentados ante el Consejo, y el Consejo encuentra que
la tabulacion de los resultados electorales es correcta.
EL CONSEJO MUNICIPAL DE LA CIUDAD DE COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,
ORDENA LO SIGUIENTE:
SECCION 1. Las Elecciones Generales dell de noviembre de 2017 fueron debidamente
anunciadas; la notificacion de las elecciones fue realizada conforme a la ley; y las elecciones
fueron celebradas de acuerdo a la ley.
SECCION 2. La tabulaciOn de los votos en las Elecciones Generales celebradas el 7 de
noviembre de 2017, para los propositos mencionados en Considerando Numero 1, una copia del
ORDENANZA NUMERO 2017-3960 Page 2 of 2
cual se adjunta y se hace parte de esta ordenanza; se adopta como la tabulacion oficial de los
votos emitidos en las elecciones y la tabulacion se registrars en los registros oficiales de la
Ciudad de College Station como el sondeo oficial de las elecciones.
SECCION 3. El sondeo oficial de los resultados electorales refleja lo siguiente:
A. Para el Miembro del Consejo Puesto Numero 1, los siguientes votos fueron emitidos:

Bob Brick 2,817
B. Para el Miembro del Consejo Puesto Numero 3:
Linda Harvell 3,296
Dallas Shipp 1,527
C. Para el Miembro del Consejo Puesto Numero 5:
John Nichols 3,782
SECCION 4. Que Bob Brick recibio una mayoria de los votos y se elige para servir
como Miembro del Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad Puesto Numero 1. Que Linda Harvell
recibio una mayoria de los votos y se elige para servir como Miembro del Consejo Municipal de
la Ciudad Puesto Numero 3. Que John Nichols recibio una mayoria de los votos y se elige para
servir como Miembro del Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad Puesto Numero 5.
