Special City Council Meeting
April 4, 1977
4:00 P.M.

Agenda Item No. 1 -- Discussion of proposed community center.
This item was moved to the end of the agenda.
Agenda Item No. 2 -- Discussion of easement in Wolfpen P.U.D. (Pearson tract).
Building Official Koehler described the problems and necessity for the
requested easement.
Mr. John Pearson requested rapid Council action.
Mr. J. W. Wood questioned the need for an access easement through this
area.
Councilman Halter moved and Councilman Dozier seconded to abandon the
access easement crossing portions of Lots 6 and 7 in Wolfpen P.U.D.
Councilman Hazen moved to table the abandonment until a resident poll could
be taken.
The motion to table died for lack of a second.
The motion to abandon the access easement crossing portions of Lots 6&7
of the Wolfpen P.U.D. passed with Councilman Hazen voting against and
Councilman Stephenson abstaining.
City Manager Bardell noted the need to grant an air easement to allow Mr.
Pearson to build a removable porch over the city utility easement.
Councilman Ringer moved to authorize the city staff to draft the necessary
papers granting the air easement.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Halter and unanimously approved.
Agenda Item No. 3 -- Canvass results of election and swear in new councilmen.
Councilman Dozier moved and Councilman Stephenson seconded the authorizing
of Mayor Bravenec to sign a resolution canvassing the election returns.
The motion passed with Councilmen Ringer, Halter and Hazen abstaining.

There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the
2nd day of April, 1977, for the purpose of electing three councilmen, and it

appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at
said election 263 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said
election received the following votes:

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was
given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance
with law, and that Gary M. Halter, Larry J. Ringer, and Anne Hazen were
duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election, and that said above
named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices,
subject to the taking of their oaths as provided by the laws of the State
of Texas.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 4th day of April, 1977.

Mayor Bravenec swore in the new councilmen.
A~enda Item No. 1 -- Discussion of proposed community center.
Councilman Stephenson moved to contact the landowners, by preference of the
site selection committee, as to their willingness to sell.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Hazen and passed with Councilman Dozier
voting against.
City Manager Bardell noted the lack of study on operational costs.
Councilman Halter moved to create a Council subcommittee to review community
center committee recommendations.
The motion was seconded by Councilan Stephenson.

The motion passed with Councilman Hazen absent.
Mayor Bravenec appointed Councilman Stephenson as chairman with Councilmen
Dozier and Halter serving as members.
Agenda Item No. 4 -- Closed session to discuss personnel appointments.
Mayor Bravenec called the Council into closed session.
A~enda Item No. 5 -- Adjourn.
The Council convened to open session and Mayor Bravenec declared the
meeting adjourned.
