Chosin Few Close on Target

With 632 allied Chosin veterans in
our ranks and the number increasing
daily, our "impossible -- it can't be
done" target of 1,000 members now
appears within range.
As we grow, we are also advanc-
ing on a variety of fronts, from
reunion, planning to a possible
memorial to a decision on member-
ship categories.
The most significant milestone
passed since I -Col. Harry T. Milne,
USMC Ret., signed aboard as our
very first member was the recent
"enlistment" of our 500th, GySgt
Daniel Murphy, USMC Ret.
Murphy won the Navy Cross for
heroism at Yudam-ni with
E/2/7th Marines. He retired from
the Corps in 1953, then retired as a
captain from Western Penitentiary
in Pennsylvania in 1975, now lives in
Indian Harbor Beach, Florida.
The intent of The Chosin Few was
never to organize all the so-called
silent or forgotten veterans of the
Korean War, but to reunite the very
elite group of men who fought one
of the epic military campaigns of
