HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-0076 - Ordinance - 02/17/1944ORDER OF ELECTION ORDINANCE NO.76 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE, STATION, TEXAS, ORDERIN G A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ON TUESDAY, APRIL 4, 1944, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, THREE COUNCILMEN, AND A CITY SECRETARY;' FIXING THE TIME, PLACE AND MANNER OF HOLJ)ING THE ELECTION, AND APPOINTING JUDGES AND CLERKS THEREOF. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas', that:. A general election be and the same is hereby ordered to be held on the first Tuesday in April, 1944, the same being April 4, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, three Councilmen, and a 8ity Secretary of the City of College Station, Texas. Be it further ordained that said election be held in the Consolidated High School of said City of College Station and that the following persons are hereby appointed managers of said election, To wit: Gr. R. Brison, Judge, end such additional assistants as may be deemed necessary (to be arranged by Mr. Brison). The polls shall be opened promptly at 8 o'clock A.M. and shall be closed promptly at 6 o'clock P.M. Said election shall be held under the provisions of the laws of the State of Texas governing general elections, and only duly qualified voters who are residents of the City of College Station shall be allowed to vote. Copies of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Secretary shall, when posted at three public places in the City of College Station, serve as a proper notice of said election.
