HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-0155 - Ordinance - 03/12/19513 V 0 ORDINANCE NO. 155 AMENDING AN ORDINANCE HERETOFORE PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 12, 1951, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $60,000 CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ELECTRIC LIGHT, WATERWORKS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, heretofore on the 12th day of February, 1951, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, passed an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $60,000 CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ELECTRIC LIGHT, WATERWORKS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, dated February 1, 1951, Numbers 1 to 60, in- clusive, in the denomination of $1,00oeach, maturing serially in the years 1952 to 1981, inclusive, but optional on February 1, 1966, or on any interest payment date thereafter; and WHEREAS, the City Council now deems it advisable and to the best interest of said City that said ordinance passed on February 12, 1951, be amended; T 1 ' �N TEXAS: ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, 1. That Section I of the ordinance passed by the City Council on February 12, 1951, authorizing the issuance of $60,000 City of College Station Electric Light, Waterworks and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, dated February 1, 1951, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to read hereafter as follows: "I. "That for the purpose of securing funds with which to build and purchase improvements and extensions to the electric light system, and c-nstruct improvements and extensions to the waterworks sytem and the sewer system of said City, and pursuant to the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, including particularly Articles 1111 - 1118, both inclusive, of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 1925, as amended, and in accordance with the election held for that purpose, there shall be issued CITY OF COLLEGE STATION WATERWORKS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, in the principal aggregate sum of Sixty Thousand ($60,000.00) Dollars." 2. That the form of bond as set forth in Section V, and the form of coupon as set forth in Section VI, of said ordinance passed on Februaryl2, 1951, be, and the same are hereby amended so as to conform to the provisions of this ordinance. 3. That, except for the provisions herein contained, said ordinance heretofore passed on February 12, 1951, shall remain in full force and effect. 4. By reason of the fact that the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, considers the passage of this ordinance and the issuance of said bonds necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety of the citizens of said City, it is hereby declared to be an emergency 00345 measure demanding that the rule requiring ordinances to be read at more than one meeting of the City Council be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
