HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-0148 - Ordinance - 07/10/1950O tDINVCE NO. 148 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJOINING TH_:, LIMITS OF THE CITY INTO AND INCORPORATING THE SAME AS A PART OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. 1. Inasmuch as the majority of the qualified voters residing in,a certain territory adjoining the limits of the City have voted in favor of becoming a part of the City and inasmuch further as three of them have submitted an affidavit to that fact, now be it ordained by the City Council of the City of College Station that said certain territory shall be and the same is hereby received into and incorporated as a part of the City of College Station, Texas, said certain territory being more particularly described as follows, towit: Beginning at the most southerly corner of the original City limits of the City of College Station, Texas. This corner also being the most westerly corner of the Ed Hrdlicka homestead. Thence north 45° east along the original city limits of the City of College Stetion, Texas a distance of approximately 1'700 feet to the intersection of the southeast side of Luther Street with the northwest side of Fairview Avenue. Thence south 45° east along the southwest side of Fairview Avenue a distance of approximately 850 feet to the point of intersection of the southwest side of Fairview Avenue with the southeast side of Thompson Street. Thence north 450 east a distance. of 50 feet to the most westerly corner of Lot 9, Block 4, Breezy Heights Addition to the City of College Station, Texas. Thence south 45° east along the southeast side of Fairview Avenue a distance of 640 feet to a point near the southe^st side of the county road Thence south 45° west along a line parallel to the aaid county road a distance of approximately 2160 feet to a point in the west side of old Highway No. 6 1 Thence in a, northwesterly direction along the west side of old H4.ghway No. 6 a distance of approximately 3760 feet to an intersection with the original city limits, of the City of College Station, Texas. Thence north 45° east a distance_of approximately 50 feet to the east side of old Highway No. 6. Thence in a southeasterly direction along the east side of old Highway No. 6 a distance of approximately 2200 feet to the point of beginning. 2. The fact that the inhabitants of aforesaid described territory are without benefits of municipal government creates an emergency and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the rule requiring that an ordinance shall be read at two succesr;ive meetings before passage is hereby suspended, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after it has been passed and approved.
