HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-0138 - Ordinance - 09/27/1949ORDINANCE NO. 138 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJOINING THE LIMITS OF THE CITY INTO AND INCORPORATING THE SAME AS A PART OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. 1. Inasmuch as the majority of the qualified voters residing in a certain territory adjoining the limits of the City have voted in favor of becoming a part of the City and inasmuch further as three of them have submitted an affidavit to that fact, now be it ordained by the City Council of the City of College Station that said certain territory shall be and the same is hereby received into and incorporated as a part of the City of College Station, Texas, said certain territory being more particularly described as follows, towit: BEGINNING at the South corner of Lot 1 Block 1 of the Southeast College Park addition to the City of College Station, Texas; Thence north 45° east along the southeast side of said Lot 1 a. distance of 150 feet to the east corner of the said Lot 1 Block.1; Thence north 45° west along the northeast side of said Lot 1 Block 1 a distance of 100 feet to the north corner of he said Lot 1 Block 1; Thence north 45° east along the southeast side of the alley between College Park Addition and the said Southeast College Park a distance of approximately 491.1 feet to the west side of South Dexter Drive; Thence in a southeasterly direction along the west side of said South Dexter Drive, a distance of approximately 1198.4 feet to the east corner of Lot 12 Block 6 of the said Southeast College Park Addition; Thence south 45° west a distance of approximately 896.5 feet to the south corner of Lot 12 Block 4 of the Breezy Heights Addition to the City of College Station; Thence north 450 west a±ong the northeast side of Fairview Avenue, a distance of 312 feet to the west corner of Lot 9 Block 4 of said Breezy Heights Addition; Thence south 45° west a distance of 50 feet to the southwest side of Fairview Avenue; Thence north 45° west along the southwest side of Fairview Avenue, a distance of approximately 850 feet to the so»theast side of Luther Street; Thence north 45° east along the southeast side of Luther Street, a distance of 205 feet to the northeast side of an alley; Thence south 45° east along the northeast side of said alley, a distance of approximately 434 feet; Thence north 450 east a distance of approximately 460 feet to the east corner of the Luther Jones property; 0031? page 2 — Ordinance No. 13$ Thence north 450 east a distance of 40 feet to the northeast side of South Hereford Street; Thence north 450 west along the northeast side of Hereford to the south corner of Lot 1 Block 1 of said Southeast College Park. 2. The fact that the inhabitants.of aforesaid described territory are without benefits of municipal government creates an emergency and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the rule requiring that an ordinance shall be read at two successive meetings before passAge is hereby suspended, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after it has been passed and approved.
