HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-0434 - Ordinance - 04/27/1965Ltd 0- 0 0 AL1 ORDINANCE NO. 434 THE STATE OF TEXAS ij COUNTY OF BRAZOS On this the 27th day of April, 1965, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session in the regular meeting place of said city, and a quorum thereof, Ernest Langford Mayor J. A. Orr Councilman A. P. Boyett Councilman A. L. Rosprim Councilman T. R. Holleman Councilman R. R. Rhodes Councilman 0. M. Holt Councilman J. L. Sandstedt City Attorney being present and passed the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING PLANS AND SPECINICA.TIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF TIMB1!R STRIANC AND SUNDRY OTHER STREETS AND PLACES IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT OF BIDS FOR SUCH IMPROVE[ ENTS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of College Station, by ordinance passed on the 27th day of April, 1965, ordered and provided for the improve- ment of certain portions of Timber Street and sundry other streets and places in said City and defined and designated in said ordinance as the District to include the street commencing at the common property line between A & M Con- solidated School property and Holick Addition of Timber Street thence in a southerly direction along Timber Street until same intersects Park Place; and Whereas, the City Engineer has prepared and filed with the Governing body of the city plans and specifications for such improvements and same have been examined and in all respects approved; and WHEREAS, the present condition of said streets endangers health and safety, and it is necessary that the improvement thereof be proceeded with while the weather will permit and such improvements will be delayed pending the passing and taking effect of this ordinance and such facts constitute and create an emergency; THER.EN'ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: s 1. That said plans and specifications prepared by the City Engineer and now on file with the City be and the same are hereby adopted and approved. w (1) 2. That the City Manager be and he is hereby directed to advertise for sealed competitive bids for the making and construction of such improvements, 0,n such advertisement to be made by causing notice to be published in a newspaper 01030 0 published in and of general circulation in the City of College Station, Texas, such publication to be madeat least two times, and the first publication to be made at least fourteen days before the date stated therein for the receipt of bids. Such publication shall be made in such papers and circulation as the City Manager may deem desirable, but publication in such newspaper in the City of College Station shall be sufficient whether or not any other notice or ad- vertisement be given or. made. 3. The condition of said streets endangers health and safety and it is necessary that the improvements thereof be proceeded with while the weather will permit and such improvement is being delayed pending the passing and taking effect of this ordinance, and such facts constitute and create an emergency and an urgent necessity requiring that the rules and charter provisions be suspended, and this ordinance is passed and shall take effect as an emergency measure.
