ORDINANCE NO. 421
AN ORDINANCE RKIATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL
AREAS IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY (30)
MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RFSCINDING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
Hi,EWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION:
SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to
speed zones on State Highways in the City of College Station are hereby
rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in
which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more is authorized:
(a) State Highway 6 for traffic moving in both directions, for the
first 1.347 miles from the North City Limit the speed limit shall
be forty --five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.363 mile to the
South City Limit the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55) miles
per hour.
(b) State Highway 30, for traffic moving in an easterly direction,
for the first 0.200 mile from the intersection with State High-
way 6 the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For
the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55)
miles per hour. For the next 0.608 mile to the East City Limit,
the speed limit shall be set by the TEXAS HIGHWAY COMMISSION.
For traffic moving in a westerly direction, for the first 0.808
mile from the East City Limit the speed limit shall be set by
the TEXAS HIGHWAY COMMISSION. For the next 0.200 mile to the
junction with State Highway 6, the speed limit shall be fifty
(50) miles per hour.
(c) State Highway 308, for traffic moving in a northerly direction
for the first 0.200 mile from the traffic circle the speed limit
shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 0.209 mile to
the North City Limit, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles
per hour.
For traffic moving in a southerly direction, for the first 0.209
mile from the North City Limit, the speed limit shall be forty-
five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile to the traffic
circle, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour.
(d) F. M. Road 60, for traffic moving in both directions, for the
first 0.750 mile from the intersection with State Highway 6,
the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the
next 0.490. mile the speed limit shall be thirty (30) miles per
hour. For the next 0.497 mile to the Southwest City Limit,
the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour.

F. M. Road 2154, for traffic moving in a southerly direction, for
the first 0.500 mile from the junction with F.M. Road 60, the speed
limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 0.500 mile
the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the
next 0.880 mile to the South City Limit, the speed limit shall be
fifty (50) miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a northerly direction, for the first 0.450
mile from the South City Limit, the speed limit shall be fifty
(50) miles per hour. For the next 0.930 mile the speed limit
shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.500 mile
to the junction with F.M. Road 60, the speed limit shall be forty
(40) miles per hour.
SECTION I1. WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public
necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective from and
after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of
College Station.
