ORDINANCE NO. 376
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 84 OF ORDINANCE NO. 167 BY ADDING REGULATIONS
REGARDING PARKING WHICH WILL PROHIBIT ALL NIGHT PARKING IN THE BUSINESS
DISTRICT OF COLLEGE STATION AND THE PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN
RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS that Section 84, Ordinance No. 167 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 84. Additional Parking Regulations (a) Except as other-
wise provided in this section, every vehicle stopped or parked with the
right-hand wheels of such vehicle parallel to and within eighteen (18)
inches of the right-hand curb.
(b) Local authorities may by ordinance permit parking of vehicles
with the left-hand wheels parallel and adjacent to and within eighteen (18)
inches of the left-hand curb of a one-way roadway.
(c) The City Manager, with the approval of the City Council, may
permit angle parking on any street or highway.
(d) No person shall park a vehicle on any street in any area
zoned for business between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. of any day, except
on emergency calls.
(e) No commercial vehicles larger than a three-fourths (3/4) ton
truck shall be parked on any street in any area designated as a residential
area for a period of more than thirty minutes except during the process of
loading or unloading such vehicle.
The fact that there are numerous vehicles being parked in resi-
dential areas at night and creating traffic hazards and the fact that other
vehicles are parked in commercial areas for lengthy periods of time creates
an emergency, and this ordinance will take effect immediately upon its
passage, approval and publication as required by law.
