ORDINANCE NO. 330
On this the 27th day of October, 1961, the City Council of the City of College
Station, Texas, convened in special session in the regular meeting place of said
city with the following

being present and passed the following ordinance:
® AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF A
PORTION OF GLADE AND ORR STREETS AND SUNDRY OTHER STREETS AND PLACES IN THE CITY
[ OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT OF BIDS FOR SUCH IMPROVE -
s MENTS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of College Station, by ordinance passed
S on the 23rd day of October, 1961, ordered and provided for the improvement of that
LUpart of Orr Street from Langford Street to Glade Street and those parts or sections
to of Glade Street as shown in the plats of The Glade, first and second installments
Wand Woodson Village, first and second installments as recorded in the Deed Records
0_ of Brazos County, Texas, being more particularly described as follows:

All that one half of Glade Street lying and being adjacent to Woodson Village,
beginning at the north corner of lot 1, block 1 and extending in a southeasterly
Ce direction a distance of 440 feet to the point of intersection of the southwest

R.O.W. line of Glade Street and the northwest R.O.W. liar: of Village Drive.

All that one half of Glade Street lying and being adjacent to The Knoll, be-
ginning at the northwest line of The Knoll and extending in a southeasterly
direction a distance of 360 feet.,
All that one half of Glade Street lying and being adjacent to an approximately
3.75 acre tract of land now or formerly owned by Steve Holik, beginning at the
southeast line of Leacrest Addition and extending in a southeasterly direction a
distance of 265.8 feet to the west corner of The Glade.
All of Orr Street from the intersection of Langford Street to the intersection
of Glade Street in The Knoll.
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared and filed with the Governing body of
the City plans and specifications for such improvements and same have been

examined and in all respects approved; and
WHEREAS, the present condition of said streets endangers health and
safety, and it is necessary that the improvement thereof be proceeded with
while the weather will permit and such improvements will be delayed pending
the passing and taking effect of this ordinance and such facts constitute and
create an emergency;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION:
1. That said plans and specifications prepared by the City Engineer and
now on file with the City be and the same are hereby adopted and approved.
2. That the City Manager be and he is hereby directed to advertise for
sealed competitive bids for the making and construction of such improvements,
such advertisement to be made by causing notice to be published in a newspaper
published in and of general circulation in the City of College Station, Texas,
such publication to be made at least two times, and the first publication to be
made at least fourteen days before the date stated therein for the receipt of
bids. Such publication shall be made in such papers and circulation as the
City Manager may deem desirable, but publication in such newspaper in the City
of College Station shall be sufficient whether or not any other notice or ad-
vertisement be given or made.
3. The condition of said streets endangers health and safety and it is
necessary that the improvements thereof be proceeded with while the weather
will permit and such improvement is being delayed pending the passing and
taking effect of this ordinance, and such facts constitute and create an em-
ergency and an urgent necessity requiring that the rules and charter provisions
be suspended, and this ordinance is passed and shall take effect as an emergency
measure.
