HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-0298 - Ordinance - 06/27/1960ORDINANCE NO. 298 AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO INJURE PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY, USE PROP- ERTY WITHOUT CONSENT OF OWNER, TRESPASS ON PRIVATE OR CITY PROPERTY, PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas: 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to destroy, injure, cut, chip, break, deface or cover or rub with, or otherwise place filth excrement of any kind upon any public property in the City or on any public building, statue, monument, office, dwelling, drinking fountain or structure of any kind what- soever, whether existing or in course -of erection, or on the doors, windows, steps, railing, fencing, balconies, balustrades, walls or sides, or the walls of any enclosure thereof, or to write, mark, draw, or paint any word or sign or figure thereon. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to cut, break, bruise, mutilate, or injure any tree, shrub, or flower growing or planted on any public square, public ground, esplanade, street or sidewalk in the City. 3. It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the City to in any manner interfere with, take up, or use any personal prop- erty of any other person without the consent of the owner thereof, or other person in charge of such property. 4. It shall be unlawful for any person to break down, disturb, injure, or carry away any fence, or part thereof, or the steps, or the doors of houses, without being authorized by the owners, or to deface, break, or carry away, any signboard or plate indicating the occupation or business of any person, or to intrude or trespass upon the premises of another without con- sent of the owner or occupant. 5. It shall be unlawful for any person to trespass upon, enter into or upon any of the property owned by or controlled by the City without the con- sent of the City or some authorized officer, agent or employee of the City; provided, that the word "property" as herein used shall not be construed to mean any public highway, street, park or public place in the City. 6. If any section of this ordinance is found to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining sections. 7. Any person violating this ordinance shall be fined not less than Fifteen ($15.00) Dollars and not more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, each day such.violation continues shall constitute a separate offense. 8. The fact that the City of College Station is badly in need of the regulations herein contemplated, and said regulations will be to the best interest and general welfare of the inhabitants of said City, creates an emergency, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately from and after its passage at this meeting, and it is so ordained.
