City of College Station
Parks & Recreation Board
Regular Meeting
January 16, 1979
MEMBERS PRESENT: Lou Hodges, Chairman; Dee Springer, Kathleen Kenefick,
Jim Behling, Jim Luscombe; Councilman, Larry Ringer;
Parks Director, Steve Beachv; Asst. Director, Andy
Czimskey.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Dave Turello, Rich Kerbel
GUESTS: Allen Swoboda., Jim Holster, and Don Buzzingham
Aqenda Item No. 1 - Approval of minutes.
The minutes for December 12, 1978 were approved.
nda Item No. 2 - Hear Visitors.
No visitors.
Agenda Item No. 3 - Progress report on current projects.
The Krenek Tap application was submitted and we should find about it in the next
couple of months.
Thomas pool has been cleared and can start advertising for bids around the first of
February for bid opening.
Pool cover - we are waiting on material for cover.
Advertising for the Arts Festival has been started and placed in several magazines,
newspapers, etc.
Agenda Item No. 4 - Report on tree planting program.
Eric Ploeger reported on the street tree planting. He said there were several streets
which they could not plant trees on which were in the original plans.
Agenda Item No. 5 - Board Concerns/other business.
Developers, Allen Swoboda with Emerald Forest and Jim Holster with Windwood were here
to discuss land dedication.

Don Buzzingham showed a film on New Games and afterward the board participated in a
few New Games. Whoopie!
