Attending were Chairman Louis Hodges, members Don 'Martell, Jim Lascombe, Jim Behling, and 'Mary Saslow; Councilman Larry Ringer; Parks and Recreation Director Paul Wojciechowski; Steve Kline, Supt. of Recreation; Roberta Inglis, Director of Swim Program. 1. New menbers Jim Behling, Jim Lascombe, and Don 'Martell welcomed. 2. Summer Recreation Programs. Roberta Inglis reported on the great deal of use Lite Bee Creek pool gets in the summer. Steve Kline reported that there are 48 slow -pitch softball teams: 31 men's and 17 women's. He also reported that Lincoln Center has supervised recreation during the summer from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. If the new bus runs, there are even field trips --fishing is particularly popular. Steve also handles community special events such as the recent Easter Egg Hunt. He wants more such events which involve families. The difficulty of scheduling ball games in our few ballparks was once again reported. Funding of Recreation Pro rams: tete must consider this in the future. !+e must develop a funding philosophy. It presently appears that we subsidize them about 500,o. 3. Park Develo� ent With Money From the -Recent Bond Iss Oaks Park: Students of Rodney Hill recently did plans for this park. Ali included adult play equipment including a cable ride and skate board facility. We will meet with Rodney in two weeks and discuss the park. A final plan must be developed so that we can proceed with this park quickly. Don Martell has bought acreage near the park and would like the committee to consider if it would like to extend the pari: onto any of this land. He would like this decided before he plans further development. Thomas Park: Pool design should begin soon. 4. Land Acquisition Proposal July 1 is the deadline for submitting an application to BOR for matching funds starting with the new fiscal year on October 1. ie need to submit credentials for appraisers, and seek help in deciding on appropriate land and filling out forms. Possible submissions: Thomas Park Pool (development funds), Holik Tract, Anderson Ridge extension, Brentwood, etc. large park, another park on the East Side. cont'd. lie need a list of the most important items. Underground Utilities at Anderson Ridge Park. Don Martell is developing the housing which borders this park. He would like the city to share the cost of burying the utilities which will border both his property and the park. Above -ground utilities would detract form the appearance of the park. The developer estimates the cost to each party would be about $750.
