The meeting was called to order at 7 nm. Attending were Chairman
Louis Hodges, members Don 'Martell, Jim Lascombe, Jim Behling, and
'Mary Saslow; Councilman Larry Ringer; Parks and Recreation Director
Paul Wojciechowski; Steve Kline, Supt. of Recreation; Roberta
Inglis, Director of Swim Program.
1. New menbers Jim Behling, Jim Lascombe, and Don 'Martell welcomed.
2. Summer Recreation Programs.
Roberta Inglis reported on the great deal of use Lite Bee Creek
pool gets in the summer.
Steve Kline reported that there are 48 slow -pitch softball teams:
31 men's and 17 women's. He also reported that Lincoln Center has
supervised recreation during the summer from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday through Friday. If the new bus runs, there are even field
trips --fishing is particularly popular. Steve also handles
community special events such as the recent Easter Egg Hunt. He
wants more such events which involve families. The difficulty of
scheduling ball games in our few ballparks was once again reported.
Funding of Recreation Pro rams: tete must consider this in the future.
!+e must develop a funding philosophy. It presently appears that we
subsidize them about 500,o.
3. Park Develo
ent With Money From the -Recent Bond Iss
Oaks Park: Students of Rodney Hill recently did plans for this
park. Ali included adult play equipment including a cable ride
and skate board facility. We will meet with Rodney in two weeks
and discuss the park. A final plan must be developed so that we
can proceed with this park quickly.
Don Martell has bought acreage near the park and would like the
committee to consider if it would like to extend the pari: onto
any of this land. He would like this decided before he plans
further development.
Thomas Park: Pool design should begin soon.
4. Land Acquisition Proposal
July 1 is the deadline for submitting an application to BOR for
matching funds starting with the new fiscal year on October 1.
ie need to submit credentials for appraisers, and seek help in
deciding on appropriate land and filling out forms. Possible

5. Underground Utilities at Anderson Ridge Park.
Don Martell is developing the housing which borders this park.
He would like the city to share the cost of burying the utilities
which will border both his property and the park. Above -ground
utilities would detract form the appearance of the park. The
developer estimates the cost to each party would be about $750.
The committee moved and passed the following resolution: The
Parks and Recreation Committee recommends to the City Council
that the city enter into and approve an agreement with Ryan
Interest, Inc. to share the costs evenly on underground utilities
that border Anderson Park.
