MEMORANDUM
TO: Members of the College Station Parks & Recreation Committee
FROM: Paul Wojciechowski, Parks & Recreation Director
SUBJECT: Agenda of the Parks & Recreation Committee meeting July 27,
1976
Item No. 2 -- As requested by the committee at the last meeting I have
made a study of the attendance and use of the new tennis courts at Bee
Creek Park in order to determine the need for a reservation policy. In
short, it presently seems as though there is very little need for any
sort of reservation system.
Item No. 3 -- The City is planning to sell the first group of bonds very
soon including $225,000.00 of park improvements bonds. The remainder are
to be sold eighteen months after the initial sale. We must develop a pri—
ority list of parks projects and a time table for their completion. At—
tached is a sheet listing all of the proposed park projects. I have in—
cluded on it estimated costs of construction for each facility. I have
also noted with an asterisk those facilities I feel should be constructed
prior to next spring.
Item No. 4 -- The committee, at the last meeting, recommended only one
meeting in July and one in August. Would it be better to meet August 10th
or August 24th?
MINUTES
CITY OF COLLESE STATION
PARKS AND RECREATION COmmITTEE
June 22, 1976
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm. Attending were
Chairman Louis Hodges, members Fred Bouse, Stephen Riter, Mary
Saslow; Councilman Larry Ringer; Parks and Recreation Director Paul
Wojciechowski; and visitors John Foot and Robert Runnels.
1. minutes of previous meeting tuere not received.
2. Tennis court reservation policy. Paul reviewed the policy he
wrote up at the request of the members at the last meeting. Since
is not clear to the members that such a policy is actually necessary,
it was decided to have a straw vote on the matter by those using
the tennis courts, and to have Paulwatch to see if it is needed.
Fred Bouse moved and Mary Saslow seconded a motion to postpone
consideration of this for a month. The motion passed.
3. Upcominq bond issue vote for park improvements. Members will
contact members of the community on their own to try to get the
bond issue passed.
4. Other businsss.
Free pool day. There will be an open house, diving exhibit, and
water festival at Adamson Pool on July 5th.
Meetings. Louis Hodges would like to have only one meeting a
month during July and August.
Southwood Valley park. Mr. Fitch has been approached by homeowners
to allow the neighborhood children to use a pretty tank in the area
for the time being. He seems agreeable to the idea.
