1251 Corps of Cadets Anniversary Reunion
September 21-22, 2001
Time is fast approaching for the Corps and Texas A & M to celebrate 125 years of excellence and outstanding
accomplishments. Its sons and daughters have given the best that they had to our state and nation and have been
recognized for their accomplishments from the battlefield to the boardroom. During the weekend we will honor
all those that have come before us, celebrate with our current cadets, and dream of what is in the future for the
Corps of Cadets. Come join us on this historic weekend!
Our celebration will start on Friday, September 21, with the Corps Scholarship Golf Tournament. PGA Touring Pro
Jeff Maggert `86 will hold a 9:00 a.m. golf clinic at the campus golf course followed by a Florida scramble
tournament. Numerous prizes will be awarded and a barbeque lunch will be included.
During the day at the Sanders Corps Center Benjamin Knox '90 and Tim Vanya will be signing their 125th
Corps Anniversary prints. John Adams '73 will be signing his new book "Keepers of the Spirit". This will be the
initial showing for these prints and John's book. These will be great additions to your home or office.
At 5:00 p.m. the dedication of the James B. Kelly '52 Reviewing Stand will be held on Simpson Drill Field. After
the dedication the Corps of Cadets will pass in review.
Next on our program is the Friday night event at Reed Arena. First on our program will be our Aggie Governor
Rick Perry '72 followed by David Chapman '67. David will give a history of the Corps of Cadets that will help
you relive old memories of your Corps days and the fun things we did while in the Corps. Next is a concert by the
Fightin' Texas Aggie Band that will have you standing with Aggie pride. At the conclusion of the program, the
Aggie Band will form up outside Reed Arena and let the attendees follow the band to Kyle Field for midnight yell
practice.
Saturday starts off at 9:00 a.m. with a program at Rudder Auditorium on the current status of the Corps of Cadets
by our Commandant Ted Hopgood '65 and the 2001-2001 Corps Commander Joe Dickerson '02. This will be
followed by an Ol' Army Elephant Walk over to the "Y" for yell practice. During this time vintage aircraft will
be flying over the campus and tipping their wings to all the Ags.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. a pre -game lunch will be served at Duncan Dining Center and will continue until 2:00 p.m.
The Sanders Corps of Cadets Center and all Corps dorms will be open for visitation.
Now comes the difficult question "What time is game time?". The Athletic Department says that game time
will be based on TV schedules. The game start time can be changed up to eight (8) days prior to game day. So,
we are scheduling based on the current published game time, but things can change. Please be flexible.
Now for the game activities. Prior to the game, the Corps will past in review. You should plan to be in the stands
early. The halftime is going to be something that you won't want to miss. We will recognize the oldest former
Corps member that is attending and five Aggies who represent the Aggies that fought in World War 1, World War
II, Korean War , Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. We will have all former Corps Commanders present on the
field plus all Generals and Admirals from the Corps. There will be fly -overs by active and reserve military air-
craft and a missing man formation for all former Corps members who have died in service to our country.
Please register early. With your registration packet you will receive a special 125th Corps Anniversary maroon
polo shirt that you will want to wear during the weekend. You can purchase additional shirts on our registration.
form. Registrations are being managed by Executive Travel & Leisure to include: discount airfare, discount rental
cars, rooms that are made available for the Corps Anniversary, and tickets for all events. Please call Executive-
Travel & Leisure at 800-329-6505 if you have any questions.
