A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE COLLEGE
STATION INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BUILD A GOOD CENTS
HOME.
WHEREAS, at a meeting on June 23, 1988, the College Station
City Council agreed to establish and promote a Good Cents
Home Program within the city limits of College Station,
Texas, for the purpose of encouraging the construction of
energy-efficient and cost-saving residences; and
WHEREAS, a proposal has been brought to the City Council to
provide funding assistance to help the College Station
Independent School District Vocational Education Program
build a single-family residence to the standards of the Good
Cents Home Program; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council met on January 11, 1990, and
considered the merits of the proposal, including the
fostering of cooperative programs between the city and the
school district; and
WHEREAS, the College Station City Council has determined
that the proposal is a win-win situation which offers an
opportunity for high school students to be taught life
skills, provides free publicity to Good Cents builders,
establishes a training program for possible future
employees, and promotes energy conservation and the Good
Cents Program; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed program can be completed without any
major unreimbursed costs to the city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of College Station, Texas, that Mayor Larry J. Ringer
is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the
College Station Independent School District to build a Good
Cents Home.
