A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION TO APPLY FOR A GRANT TO COVER THE SALARY OF A CRIME
RESEARCH ANALYST AND TO ASSIST IN THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE
AND OTHER NECESSARY ITEMS TO ESTABLISH A CRIME ANALYSIS UNIT
OF THE COLLEGE STATION POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO ACCEPT SUCH GRANT.
WHEREAS, the Governor's Office of General Counsel and Criminal
Justice has indicated, through the Brazos Valley Development
Council, the availability of certain grant funds to assist
local governments to strengthen law enforcement in their
respective communities; and
WHEREAS, among the areas of eligibility for assistance is grant
funds for salary, software, and other necessary expenses for
establishing the position of a Crime Research Analyst; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a crime analysis unit would
greatly benefit the community and surrounding areas by the earl,
detection of crime patterns and trends therefore increasing the'
opportunity to prevent certain crimes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
That the Mayor is authorized to submit the necessary
application through the Brazos Valley Development Council for
grant funds to support the establishment of a crime analysis
unit in the College Station Police Department.
II.
That the Mayor is authorized to accept such grant funds should
they be tendered in response to the aforementioned application.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of College
