10-10-91-8.11 - Resolution - 10/10/1991RESOLUTION NO. 10-10-91-8.11 RESOLUTION BY THE COLLEGE STATION CITY COUNCIL REQUESTING THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURT TO IMPOSE, BY ITS ORDER, A $1.50 FEE, IN ADDITION TO THE FEES REQUIRED CURRENTLY UNDER THE TEXAS MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION ACT, ON EACH VEHICLE REGISTERED IN BRAZOS COUNTY, TEXAS ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1, 1991; SAID FEE FUND TO BE USED FOR SCHOOL CROSS- ING GUARDS WITHIN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION AND FOR SUCH OTHER CHILD WELFARE MEASURES AS PROVIDED BY THE TEXAS LEGIS- LATURE AND AS MAY BE ENACTED BY THE COLLEGE STATION CITY COUNCIL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has authorized counties to impose, by order, a $1.50 per vehicle fee for vehicle regis- tration in counties; and WHEREAS, the monies collected under such an order are to be remitted to the cities in the County after an administration charge is deducted along with a deduction in an amount equal to the money attributable to County residents who do not live in the incorporated portions of the County; and, WHEREAS, the monies paid over to the cities in the County under the law are to be used for school crossing guards in the cities and for certain other child welfare measures as may be determined by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, the City of Bryan has already passed such a resolu- tion; WHEREAS, the City of College Station City Council finds that it is in the best interest of all the citizens of College Station to request that Brazos County impose such a fee; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, THAT: The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, hereby requests that the Brazos County Commissioners' Court impose a $1.50 per vehicle fee, effective on the same date as for Bryan and the rest of the County but no later than November 1, 1991, on each vehicle registering in the County, said fee to be collected and distributed in accordance with Senate Bill No. 460, amending Article 6675a-gb, Texas Re- Lsed Civil Statutes. Resolution No. 10-10-91-8.11 Page 2 II. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and passage. The City Secretary is hereby directed to mail a certified copy of the approved resolution to the Honorable R.J. "Dick" Holmgreen, County Judge of Brazos County, Texas.
