CITY OF COTJ-~OR STATION
WHEREAS,
The United States Legislature incorporated President George
Bush's "America the Beautiful" plan into the 1990 Farm Bill as a
means to enhance the nation's urban forests; and
WHEREAS,
The Texas Forest Service was named the lead agency for the state
to disseminate a total of $200,000 to the state's thirteen urban
forestry regions; and
WHEREAS,
The City of College Station is fully eligible to apply for matching
funds by supplying 50% or more of the total project cost to
promote tree planting throughout the community as addressed in
Council Issue Number 11 for Fiscal Year 1990-91; and
WHEREAS,
The City Council of the City of College Station is desirous of
authorizing its administrative staff to represent and act for the city
in dealing with the Texas Forest Service concerning this program;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby
authorizes and directs the Director of Parks and Recreation to represent and act
for the City of College Station in dealing with the Texas Forest Service for the
purposes of this program.
Section 2: Effective date: This resolution shall become effective from and
after its passing by the City Council of the City of College Station.
