A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
DOCUMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE HOUSING
AFFORDABILITY STRATEGY (CHAS) TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council has expressed interest and support for providing
affordable housing to low-income citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has made a
requirement for jurisdictions to submit a Comprehensive Housing Affordability
S{~ategy which contains a Community Profile, Market and Inventory
Conditions, a Five-Year Strategy, and One-Year Action Plans; and
WHEREAS, the strategies detailed in the CHAS are complementary to the
City's ongoing Community Development Program; and
WHEREAS, the strategies detailed in the CHAS are expected the alleviate the
housing conditions experienced by low-income citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
College Station that the Mayor is authorized to execute documents for
submission of the CHAS to the Department of Housing and Urban
Development.
