A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
DOCUMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF THE HOPE III PROGRAM
IMPLEMENTATION GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council has expressed interest and support for providing
affordable housing to low-income citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued a
Notice of Funding Availability for the HOPE III Program; and
WHEREAS, the eligible activities under the HOPE III Program are consistent
with the strategies detailed in the City's Comprehensive Housing Affordability
Strategy; and
WHEREAS, the eligible activities under the HOPE III Program can be expected
to alleviate the housing conditions experienced by low-income citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
College Station that the Mayor is authorized to execute documents for
submission of the HOPE III Implementation Grant Application to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development and to enter into a
Memorandum of Understanding with the Brazos Valley Community Action
Agency as part of the application package, with the knowledge that a Contract
between the City and the Brazos Valley Community Action Agency will be
approved in accordance with City policies and procedures.
