RESOLUTION TO RENAME A PORTION OF FM 60 FROM WELLBORN ROAD
~>TO THE BRAZOS RIVER, A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE AND ENTRANCE TO TEXAS
~:A&M UNIVERSITY, AS "RAYMOND STOTZER PARKWAY" HONORING MR.
STOTZER.
WHEREAS, the late Mr. Raymond Stotzer graduated from Texas A&M
University in 1947 with a degree in civil engineering; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stotzer fostered a close partnership between Texas
A&M University, Texas Transportation Institute, and the Texas
Department of Transportation, bringing significant benefits in
· 'safety and cost savings to the citizens of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stotzer has also distinguished himself, his
profession and his university for more than 40 years as a
faithful servant to the people of the State of Texas during his
tenure with the Texas Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stotzer's service to Texas came during a pivotal
time in the development of the state's highway system, and much
of his life was dedicated to the maintenance, expansion and
improvement of that system; and
WHEREAS, these and countless other contributions by Mr. Stotzer .
are worthy of further recognition by the City Council of the Cit~
of College Station and other official bodies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the Cit~
of College Station hereby supports the renaming of this portion
of University Drive to Raymond Stotzer Parkway, and thereby
request that the Texas Department of Transportation take the
appropriate action and make the necessary changes to rename this
i>as a memorial route.
