12-9-93-5 - Resolution - 12/09/1993RESOLUTION 12-9-93-5 A RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION EXPRESSING THAT ENTITY'S INTENT TO FINANCIALLY PARTICIPATE IN THE DESIGN COSTS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO GEORGE BUSH DRIVE IN BRAZOS COUNTY FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH FM2818 TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH WELLBORN ROAD. WHEREAS, the George Bush Presidential Library is presently scheduled to be opened in early 1996, and; WHEREAS, the Cities of College Station and Bryan, Brazos County, and Texas A&M University are working in a cooperative fashion to properly plan for the infrastructure and other needs that this facility will require in its role as a key economic asset for the entire County, and; WHEREAS, these planning efforts have been coordinated through the George Bush Library Steering Committee and its various subcommittees including its Infrastructure Subcommittee with the membership of said steering committee and subcommittee being comprised of a representative cross section of the entire community, thus assuring input from all local governmental entities in Brazos County, and; WHEREAS, it has been determined through the study efforts of the George Bush Library Steering Committee and its Infrastructure Subcommittee that in order to properly plan and serve the surface transportation needs of the George Bush Presidential Library it will necessitate the need for improvements to George Bush Drive from its intersection with FM2818 east to Wellborn Road, and; WHEREAS, there are presently no funds available through the local TXDOT/MPO Transportation Improvement Plan for the improvement of this section of George Bush Drive that would allow for these roadway improvements to be completed by the time the Library is opened, and; WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Cities of College Station and Bryan, Brazos County, and Texas A&M University to approach the TXDOT Commission to request allocation of TXDOT discretionary funds for these roadway improvements, and in order to increase the likelihood of receiving a favorable response from the Commission as to the allocation of these discretionary funds for these improvements, the afore mentioned steering committee has recommended that the Cities of Bryan and College Station, Brazos County and Texas A&M University jointly fund on an equal basis the engineering design costs for these improvements. Resolution 12-9-93-5 - continued NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HERE BY RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, THAT: The City of College Station agrees to fund one-fourth of the engineering design costs (currently estimated at approximately $300,000 total) for the above referenced improvements to George Bush Drive not to exceed $95,000 per entity with said improvements being designed to TXDOT standards. Further, this commitment is made based upon the understanding that the Cities of College Station and Bryan, Brazos County and Texas A&M University will agree to participate in this funding. It is further agreed by the City of College Station that the City of College Station will serve as project manager and assemble a project team with representatives from each of the 4 entities funding this engineering design as well as representatives from the local TXDOT office. Finally, acquisition of these engineering consultant services will be done according to the City of College Station processes and procedures for acquiring professional services.
