04-03-97-1 - Resolution - 04/03/1997A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION STATING COUNCIL'S POSITION REGARDING THE HOTEL/CONFERENCE CENTER PROJECT AND PROVIDING DIRECTION TO STAFF REGARDING SAME. WHEREAS, the City Council (Council) of College Station, Texas has identified construction of additional hotel and conference center space as a strategic priority for enhancing the City of College Station's (City) important tourism industry infrastructure; and, WHEREAS, the Council adopted a revitalization plan for the Northgate area that identifies siting of a hotel/conference center in that area; and, WHEREAS, the City staff received an unsolicited proposal for a hotel/conference center to be located in the Northgate area, an area prioritized by the Council for redevelopment initiatives; and, WHEREAS, upon receiving indication from other developers that were interested in proposing a hotel/conference center project, the Council allowed other proposals to be submitted to staff; and, WHEREAS, the City staff received additional proposals for a hotel/conference center project; and, WHEREAS, the proposals received require additional information for their proper evaluation; and, WHEREAS, the Council deems that the submission of this information is necessary in order to select the proposal that is in the best interests of the citizens of College Station; and, WHEREAS, the Council wishes to allow adequate time for compilation of this information as well as to provide for the most open, competitive process possible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION; that all proposals received by City staff shall be declined arid returned to the 2. that City staff be directed to solicit proposals that conform to the informational ;onsultant that will be furnished to all proposers. that proposers that have already submitted a proposal to the City may elect to resubmit their original proposal with any additional or amended information that has been identified by staff and the City's consultant as necessary in for the proper analysis during this proposal process.
