10-14-99-11.21 - Resolution - 10/14/1999RESOLUTION No. 10-14-99-11.21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, ADDING SECTION 1, F, 16 TO THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES HANDBOOK WHEREAS, the City Council had adopted a Polices and Procedures Handbook by Resolution in 1988; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend its personnel policies from time-to-time; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the City Council of College Station, Texas, that; The City of College Station adds Section 1,F, 16 on Public Safety Assignment Pay and Shift Differential Pay° ADOPTED this 14th day of /EST: ^ ~~cretary October ., A.D. 1999. APPROVED: L"-YNIq ~clLHANEY, Mayor / APPROVED: HXRVEY C~GI-LL,,~, ~ttorney Public Safety Assignment Pay Purpose The City of College Station has identified a need for Public Safety employees to become proficient in certain fields of expertise. To encourage and reward employees for these additional duties, and for acquiring these skills, special assignment pay will be given. Eligibility All regular, full-time, sworn Police Officers, or Certified Firefighters and Paramedics may be eligible to receive assignment pay. The Department will determine the number of positions needed for each assignment and the criteria for eligibility. This number will be limited, and may be changed by the Department. Employees may receive more than one assignment pay. General Provisions Individuals who qualify to receive assignment pay, as determined by the Department, will receive the following amounts: Police: Accident Reconstructionist Hostage Negotiator Field Training Officer (FTO) Patrol Field Training Officer (FTO) Communications Forensic Technician Training Specialist (SRO and FTO Coordinator) Crime Scene Technician Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Explosives Technician Drag Recognition Expert (DRE) Public Information Officer (PIO) $50/mo. $35/mo. $15/day $12/day $100/mo. $100/mo. $50/mo. $50/mo. $75/mo. $50/mo. $75/mo. Fire: Fire and Arson Investigator Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Hazardous Material Technician $50/mo. $50/mo. $50/mo. Application for assignment pay must be made to the Chief with the required documentation as outlined in the Departmental policy. Periodic reviews by the Department will be conducted to determine if the employee still qualifies for assignment pay. Assignment pay will not be given to employees who are no longer qualified. Assignment pay will become part of the base wage when calculating overtime. Police Shift Differential Pay Sworn Police Officers working the evening and night shifts, as established by the Department, will be eligible for shift differential pay. The pay differential will be $.50 per hour, for the time assigned during the applicable shift. Shift differential pay becomes part of the base wage when calculating overtime.
