7-8-99-15.3 - Resolution - 07/08/1999Resolution Number: 7-8-99-~5.3 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, ADOPTING A COLLEGE STATION RECREATION, PARK, AND OPEN SPACE MASTER PLAN. WHEREAS: The City adopted a revised Comprehensive Plan in 1997; and WHEREAS: The College Station Parks & Recreation Board determined a need for a Recreation, Park, and Open Space Master Plan; and WHEREAS: The Parks & Recreation Board adopted the completion of the master plan as their number one priority for 1999; and WHEREAS: The Master Plan was prepared with information collected since 1993 from public hearings, surveys, and interviews with user groups; and WHEREAS: The Master Plan incorporates existing approved plans including the Lincoln Center/Wayne Smith Corridor Master Plan - 1980; Wolf Pen Creek Master Plan (Revised) - 1998; Lick Creek Park Master Plan - 1998; and the Greenway Master Plan - 1999; and WHEREAS: The Parks and Recreation Board conducted a public hearing to consider the Plan on June 8, 1999; and WHEREAS: The Parks and Recreation board, at their June 8, 1999 meeting unanimously recommended approval of the Recreation, Park, and Open Space Master Plan; and WHEREAS: The Recreation, Park, and Open Space Master Plan was presented to the City Council at their meeting of June 24, 1999 and received favorable comments; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: 1) The City Council approves and adopts the Recreation, Park, and Open Space Master Plan submitted, 2) The City of College Station incorporated the Recreation, Park, and Open Space Master Plan as the official City policy regarding the City's park system's growth, development, and recreational services, That this resolution shall be effective on and after its passage.
