A subcommittee was approved and formed by the Historic Preservation Committee in 2011 to oversee the planning of 75th anniversary events, and this committee provided direction and guidance to the development of the exhibit project beginning in fall 2012. Subcommittee members and volunteers solicited sponsorships from the community in 2012 and 2013 with the underwritten support of the City of College Station and the Bush Library. The Bush Library also provided in-kind support in the amount of 3,000 square feet of museum space to be used for the display of local memorabilia, photos, videos, and stories provided by the City and community partners. The availability of Bush Library staff, security and resources at no additional cost was essential to the execution of the exhibit. The exhibit was open from Nov. 16, 2013 through Jan. 6, 2014. Related activities included an evening reception for exhibit sponsors on Nov. 12, a public dinner event on Nov. 15, and a daytime event in celebration of the exhibit’s opening on Nov. 16.  A $50,000 fundraising goal was established to execute all of the exhibit activities.  The City received $51,751 in donated funds from community partners. Expenditures The City of College Station managed the donated funds from a separate account and charged all of the 2013 and 2014 expenses associated with the 75th anniversary exhibit and its activities to that account.
