HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-14-80-7 - Resolution - 02/14/1980RESOLUTION NO. 02-14-80-7 WHEREAS, the Statutes of Texas permit the holding of joint elections by local governments, and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of College Station desires that joint elections be held that are cost effective and conveninet for the citizens for the City; BE IT THEREF~ORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of College Station that join~elections be held with the A&M Consolidated Independent School District under the following terms and conditions and the City Council herewith agree with said conditions: II. To share and share alike all cost of election in each of the City voting precincts having both an identical voting place and identical presiding judge with that of a voting precinct of the District. That it is the intent of the governing body of the City that joint annual elections are to be held as long as lawfully permissable beginning with the election of April, 1980, and continuing each year thereafter. That the implementation and a~tual management of these annual joint elections shall be carried out first by the City then by the District on an alternating or rotating basis. Beginning with the election of April, 1980, the City shall take the lead in implementation of the joint elections and shall perform the following: e The securing of qualified individuals to serve as Election Judges for each voting box within a voting precinct. The securing of the location and physical facilities where within which the election is to be conducted. 3e The securing of the official ballots and election materials and supplies requisite to the proper administration of elections under the Texas Election Code. me Securing of a contract for election supervisory services which includes counting of ballots with the Texas Voting Systems Service. Said contract shall then be executed by the two governing authorities. IV. That in the event both the City and the District shall be required to hold a run-off election, such election shall be held jointly to Resolution No. 02-14-80-7 the extent that both governing bodies are required to hold such election. The jointly held run-off election shall be administered and in the same terms and conditions as the first election. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 14th day of February, 1980.
