MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Bravenec; Councilmen Ringer, Dozier, Halter, Hazen, City Manager Bardell MEMBERS ABSENT: Councilmen Gardner, Stephenson VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register Agenda Item No. 1 -- Reconsideration of Preliminary Plat of Southwest Place. City Engineer Ash said the Safety Committee recommended that the proposed bike path easement along Texas Avenue in the plat of Southwest Place not be changed. Councilman Ringer moved to bring the item from the table. Councilman Hazen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The plat had already been approved; subject to the easement and other conditions previously stated. Agenda Item No. 2 -- Discussion of railroad crossing protection by Texas Department of Highways. City Manager Bardell recommended that College Station cooperate with the Highway Department in marking railroad crossings. Counciman Dozier moved that College Station cooperate with the Highway Department in this manner. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ringer. The motion passed unanimously. _Agenda Item No. 3 -- Consideration of subordination of easement agreements for South Knoll and College Hills schools. City Engineer Ash explained the subordination of easement agreements for these areas. Councilman Dozier moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign the agreement for South Knoll only. Councilman Halter seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Consideration of the College Hills easement will be delayed until a future meeting. A~enda Item No. 4 -- Consideration of preliminary plat of Baywood, located on the northeast corner of Texas Avenue and Krenek Lane. The Council discussed the plat. Councilman Hazen moved to approve the preliminary p~at of Baywood drawn as one lot and providing a ten foot right-of-way on Krenek Tap Road. Agenda Item No. 5 -- Consideration of bid tabulations on water trailer and brush chipper for Parks Department. City Forester Ploeger explained the bid and recommended the purchase of a water tank. Councilman Dozier moved authorization of the purchase of a water tank from Edge-Rite Corporation for $4,150.00. Councilman Halter seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Ploeger stated that the Parks Department could not utilize a brush chipper completely, but that its use could be shared with the Electric Department. Councilman Halter moved acceptance of the bid from UEC Equipment for a chipper in the amount of $6,234.14. Councilman Dozier seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Agenda Item No. 6 -- Consideration of bid tabulations on pavin~ Richards Street. City Engineer Ash stated that the City Staff recommended the alternate bid of black base in order to save working time. Councilman Ringer moved to accept the bid of Young Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $30,745.44 for paving Richards Street. Councilman Dozier seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Agenda Item No. 7 -- Consideration of request from Don Dale for variance to established curb cut policy. City Engineer explained }~. Dale's request to delay the matter until Thursday, October 13. A~enda Item No. 8 -- Discussion of items on a~enda for October 13, 1977. Mayor Bravenec and Councilman Hazen were granted excused absences from the October 13 meeting. Councilman Dozier moved to authorize the Mayor or sign the agreement with the Arboretum Association in its new form. Councilman Halter seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Councilman Halter asked for suggestions for new members of the Community MINUTES, Regular City Council Meeting October 11, 1977 5:00 P.M. Page 3 Appearance Committee. Councilman Hazen suggested that Dr. O. D. Butler be notified of future public hearing, as requested in his letter to the Council. Agenda Item No. 9 -- Adjourn.
