MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Dozier, Halter, Stephenson, Hazen; Mayor Bravenec; City Manager Bardell MEMBERS ABSENT: None VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register Agenda Item No. 1 -- Discussion of answer to City of Bryan's letter of September 28, 1977. The reply to Bryan City Manager Odle on the question of merging Bryan and College Station was read and discussed by members of the Council. Councilman Stephenson moved to accept the letter as modified. Councilman Hazen seconded the motion. The motion passed by the following vote: FOR --- Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Halter, Hazen, Stephenson; Mayor Bravenec AGAINST --- Councilman Dozier Agenda Item No. 2 -- James Jett to appear for discussion of Southwest Place. Mr. Jett asked that consideration of the plat be delayed until October 12 at the Regular Council Meeting. Councilman Ringer moved to table action until October 12. Councilman Gardner seconded the motion. The motion carried by the following: FOR --- Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Halter, Stephenson; Mayor Bravenec AGAINST --- Councilman Dozier ABSENT --- Councilman Hazen Agenda Item No. 3 -- Discussion of Steerin~ Committee of Urban Transportation Committee Study Authorization. Mr. D. D. Williamson of the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation explained the future thoroughfare plan. Councilman Halter moved to authorize Mayor Bravenec to vote for the plan to extend Highway 60 (University Drive) to Highway 158. Councilman Dozier seconded the motion. The motion failed by the following vote: FOR --- Councilmen Halter, Dozier; Mayor Bravenec AGAINST --- Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Stephenson, Hazen A~enda Item No. 4 -- Other business. Page 2 The letter to the School Board concerning property purchase will be sent October 6. It was noted that the Safety Committee is discussing possible time changes of their regular monthly meetings. City Manager Bardell was given the authority to make decisions to approve or deny block parties based on safety considerations. A~enda Item No. 5 -- Ajdourn. The meeting was adjourned.
