MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Dozier, Halter, Stephenson, Hazen; Mayor Bravenec; City Manager Bardell MEMBERS ABSENT: None VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register Agenda Item No. 1 -- Discussion of transportation problems by representative of the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation. Mr. D. D. Williamson discussed various alternatives in the College Station area that could be financed by the State Highway Department through the Economic Development Growth Center funds. Agenda Item No. 2 -- Review of Capital Improvements Pro~ram. City Manager Bardell explained the Capital Improvements budget. Director of Parks and Recreation Wojciechowski discussed the Oaks and Thomas Parks developments. Councilman Dozier commended Mr. Wojciechowski on his presentation. City Engineer Ash discussed the Capital Improvements bond program expenditures of several projects including: bikeways and sidewalks, Holleman Drive, fire station, police station, central warehouse, City Hall, water system, treatment plant, Carter Creek intercepter, substation, switching station, transmission and distribution and the convention center. A~enda Item No. 3 -- Other business. City Manager Bardell will send a letter to the school board to ask for a meeting with the Council for discussion of land purchases. Councilman Halter moved to send Councilman Stephenson as a delegate to the Federal Aviation Administration hearing in Kansas City. Councilman Dozier seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mayor Bravenec and Councilman Halter will draft explanations of the proposed Bryan-College Station merger for public information. Councilman Stephenson reported on the September 29 committee meeting with the School Board committee. Councilman Ringer moved that College Station, A&M Consolidated School District, and Brazos County investigate a possible tax office merger. Councilman Hazen seconded the motion. The motion passed by the following vote: FOR --- Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Halter, Stephenson, Hazen; Mayor Bravenec AGAINST --- Councilman Dozier MINUTES, Special City Council Meeting September 28, 1977 3:00 P.M. _Agenda Item No. 4 -- Adjourn.
