Workshop City Council Meeting
October 11, 1978

Agenda Item No. 1-- Discussion of city lo~o.
Mr. J. W. Wood and Mr. Joe Buser presented a proposal for a new city logo.
City Manager Bardell presented three ideas from the city staff for a logo.
He answered questions of the Council concerning the present design and
suggested that further study be made on the matter.
Agenda Item No.. 2 -- Discussion of utility extension policies.
City Manager Bardell covered the proposed changes to the ordinance.
The Council discussed the intended purpose of the proposed ordinance
and made grammatical corrections to the proposal.
They also discussed the methods of charging the user of the utility for
tie-on service.
Councilman Adams, Halter, and Mayor Bravenec asked to be included in future
staff discussions of this matter.
Agenda Item No. 3 -- Discussion of utility rate study procedures.
City Manager Bardell discussed several possible issues that need to be reviewed
before the complete conversion to Gulf States Utilities. in February, 1979.
He especially stressed the importance of the industrial rate.
Councilman Halter suggesed the formation of a committee to study these
matters further.
Councilmen were asked to submit names of persons to serve on the committee
to Mayor Bravenec.
A~enda Item No. 4 -- Discussion of bus franchise possibility.
City Manager Bardell presented a policy used in the City of Austin requiring
the franchising of shuttle bus services. He suggested that an ordinance might
be drafted based on this policy.
