HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/09/1964 - Special Minutes - City Council/28 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING April 9, 1964 Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Rosprim, Sorrels, Landiss, Rhodes; City Manager Boswell. Results of the regular municipal election of April 7 were canvassed. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the results of the election were approved and the following declared elected: U1 Ernest Langford, Mayor; T. R. Holleman, councilman, Ward I; 0. M. Holt, caw councilman, Ward II; A. P. Boyett, councilman, Ward III. ob On motion by Councilman Rosprim,seconded by Councilman Boyett, Mr. K. A. P APPROVED: V,*,r i tr_ot�� Mayor E ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY OFFICERS* ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS 0 CITY OF COLLEGE STATION 0 On this the 9th day of April, 1964, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present, to -wit: Ernest Langford Mayor A. P. Boyett Councilman Antone Rosprim Councilman J. H. Sorrels Councilman R. R. Rhodes Councilman C. W. Landiss Councilman and the following absent: J. A. Orr, constituting a quorum, and among other r proceedings had were the following: Councilman Sorrels introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Landiss and the motion ., carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote, AYES: all, NOES: none. Uj The resolution is as follows: 0- There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 7th day of April, 1964, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that �w there were cast at said election 426 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: C' 3 FOR MAYOR Name of Candidate Total Number of Votes Received Ernest Langford 393 Gene Sutphen 7 M. B oyett Edd Whitten Total Number of Votes Received 51 91 67 1 19 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that Ernest Langford was duly elected Mayor of said City at said election and A. P. Boyett, T. R. Holleman and O. M. Holt were duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election, and that said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths as provided by the laws of the State of Texas.
