Cb On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, Ordinance No. 387, an ordinance ordering a general municipal election in the City of ® College Station on Tuesday, April 7, 1964, for the election of a mayor and Q three councilmen, fixing the time, place and manner of holding the election, 00 and appointing judges and clerks thereof, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, Ordi- nance No. 388, an ordinance appointing a board of equalization for the year 1964 and fixing the time of the first meeting of said board, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, Ordinance No. 389, an ordinance ordering the improvement of certain portions of Francis Drive from Highway 6 to Munson Avenue; Bolton Avenue from Milner Drive to Puryear Drive; Munson Avenue from Francis Drive to Gilchrist Avenue; and Park Place from Hereford Street to Fairview Avenue; and sundry other streets and places in the City of College Station, providing the necessary matters inci- dental there to, including directing the city engineer to prepare plans and specifications therefor, and declaring an emergency, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, Ordi- nance No. 390, an ordinance ordering the improvement of certain portions of A Park Place from Fairview Avenue to FM 2154 in the City of College Station, a providing the necessary matters incidental thereto, including directing the ��d city engineer to prepare plans and specifications therefor, and declaring an Q emergency, was passed and approved. 3 On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the council W will review its policy as regards street improvement program. V) W On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the mayor CL was directed to notify the National Board of Fire Underwriters that the City Cd of College Station intends to adopt the National Building Code, abbreviated edition, as the code of the city, and to request that said board assist the city in establishing fire limits, etc. CY. O 0 cn ��8 On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the statement of plans for improving conditions for insurance, fixe protection, etc., is to be made a part of the minutes of this meeting. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the city manager was authorized to issue a building permit to Norman Beal for alterations to the State Motel for certain improvements, requiring that all exterior wall construction shall provide for a 'two-hour fixe rating, but in no case shall consist of less than two layers of 5/8" gypsum wall board overlaid with cement -asbestos panels 1/4" in thickness. The council adjourned subject to call. City has purchased site for an elevated water tank and hopes to have extensions to and tank erected by 1967. 2. City has purchased site for proposed fire station. 3. City has employed Homer A. Hunter Associates to make a thorough study of its water system and to make recommendations relative to any improvements or extensions thereto. 4. City will work with Texas A & M University in providing round-the-clock personnel at fire station. 5. City will purchase a 750 or 1,000 gpm pumper to be placed in Texas A & M University fire station for joint usuage by the city and University. 6. Francis Drive has been designated as a thoroughfare and will be paved in 1964. This street abuts property listed under 2 above. 7. City proposes that an advisory board composed of city and university officials be created to coordinate efforts and responsibilities in fire- fighting, etc. 8. City plans to adopt National Building Code as the code of the City of College Station and has requested the National Board of Fire Underwriters to send a representative to the City of College Station to work with the council in establishing fire zones. 9.
