M. Dowell, J. B. Blakeley, representative of Bryan Daily Eagle City Secretary Manning's request to be excused from this meeting was approved. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Orr, Ordinance No. 335, an ordinance ordering a general municipal election in the City of College Station on Tuesday, April 3, 1962, for the election of a mayor and three councilmen, fixing the time, place and manner of holding the election, and appointing judges and clerks thereof, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordinance No. 336, an ordinance appointing a board of equalization for the year 1962 and fixing the time of the first meeting of said board, was passed and approved. A public hearing was called on the question of zoning the areas annexed by Ordinances No. 269 and No. 324. No objection was offered and the mayor declared the hearing closed. On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordi- nance No. 337, an ordinance receiving certain territory into the city limits was passed and approved. City Attorney Sandstedt was authorized to investigate fully the attempt by Woodson Lumber Company to evade assessment in the construction and improve- ment of Glade Street. After discussion of the Area Planning Corporation's plan for off-street ntl': 64 161 SY parking in the north gate business district, Mr. Boswell was instructed to investigate fully the possibilities of such a parking area. Citizens named as an advisory committee to the council`in charter revision are: Ward 1: Bardin Nelson, Marion Pugh Ward 2: John W. Hill, Charles LaMotte Ward 3: Colonel Frank H., Mathews, William A. Smith On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the third installment, The Glade Subdivision, was approved and accepted subject W to the president of the Area Progress Corporation signing the dedication. W W On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, City CL Attorney Sandstedt was given permission to enter into suit with the A & M Cb Independent School District in order to collect delinquent taxes from Mr. T. D. Taylor, owner of the Western Motel. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, City dAttorney Sandstedt was authorized to look into the franchise tax of the m Southwestern States Telephone Company being paid to A & M College which heretofore has been paid to the city. On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the mayor was asked to write a letter to Representative Olin Teague commending him for his opposition to the establishing of a Cabine-level Department of Urban Affairs. Mr. J. B. Blakeley appeared before the council representing the Church of Christ concerning plans to extend the building and add extra parking facilities. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the Church of Christ was authorized to build on its property across the sewer easement so long as the present sewer line is replaced with one of cast iron of the same size.
