HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/04/1962 - Special Minutes - City Council06.0 is W 'e[ W Ao 0 0 m 7 SZ i W (n W [L. di CC 0 0 m -r e' MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING April 4, 1962 Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Boyett, Sorrels, Landiss, Rosprim, Anderson; City Secretary Manning City Attorney Sandstedt, City Manager Boswell PURPOSE OF MEETING: To canvass election of April 3, 1962, and to consider a contract for improvements of Glade and Orr Streets and other matters. The election returns for April 3, 1962, were canvassed with the following results: For Mayor: For Councilmen: Ernest Langford, 101 W. I. Truetner, 1 Ward I: Carl W. Landiss, 49 Ward II: Joe H. Sorrels, 29 Ward III: A. P. Boyett, 25 The council having determined that the election was held according to law, Messieurs Langford, Landiss, Sorrels, and Boyett were declared duly elected to their respective offices subject to their filing oaths of office. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the bid of Vance and Thurmond in the amount of $31,525.90 for construction and improvement on parts of Glade and Orr Streets as submitted on February 23, 1962, was accepted and the mayor and city manager authorized to sign for the city all contractural documents relating thereto. Councilman Anderson voted no to the motion. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the next regular meeting of the council was set for 7 p.m. April 30, 1962, the reason for the change being that the regular date of April 23 occurs during the Easter holiday period. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city manager was authorized to proceed with negotiations for the purchasing of a 10 x 660 strip of land owned by Foster W. Wilson for the amount of $300.00 and the moving and replacing of the existing fence bordering the 660 foot side of the property concerned. The council adjourned subject to call.
