M. McLain, and Jim O'Connell, Mr. Collier, Representative of Bryan Eagle On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Boyett, Ordi- nance No. 308, an ordinance ordering a general municipal election, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordinance No. 309, an ordinance appointing a Board of Equalization for the year 1961, was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Anderson, it was moved that the City of College Station employ an appraiser immediately to determine the property cost to be furnished by the City of College Station for the underpass on Highway No. 60 and that the city also determine the cost of any necessary changes in utilities. That when this information is secured the city council will meet with the Brazos County Commission Court in an attempt to arrive at proportionate cost of this right-of-way procurment. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson, after short consideration on the bids of electric supplies, it was decided to accept the lowest bid which was General Electric Supply Company for $4,799.26. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the final subdivision plat of the school property was accepted and will be turned over to the Planning and Zoning Committee. On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, it was decided to attempt to obtain an option from property owners of the remaining lots adjacent to the present city property on Highway No. 6, which the city is interested in purchasing. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Smith, the city attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance pertaining to the street im- provements on Foster Avenue from Walton Drive to Gilchrist Avenue. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, after short consideration on the bids of the improvement of drainage through the Knoll, it was decided to accept the lowest bid which was H. J. Hogan for $1,000.00. Mayor Pro -Tem Orr was instructed to write to Mr. Marion C. Pugh and Don R. Dale and inform them of the council's decision pertaining to street improvements on Glade Street. 00725,_1'V It was decided that the city has no legal right to refuse a beer license to the Red Star Cafe since it is the legal distance from the residental section. It was decided however to have City Attorney Dillon prepare an Ordinance to enable the city to regulate the sale of beer. Councilman Sorrels brought up the noise being created by milk trucks early in the morning. Councilman Sorrels was instructed to tell the man which he was inquiring for that there is nothing that the city can do.
