COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Halter, Councilmen Jones, Ringer, Runnels, Boughton Kelly COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Councilman Dozier STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: City Manager Bardell, City Attorney Denton, City Planner Mayo, City Engineer Ash, Tax Assessor-Collector/City Secretary Schroeder VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register A~enda Item No. 1 - Council Concerns. Councilman Boughton stated her concern for immediate action on renaming of the new Kyle street extension. She had spoken with the Fire and Police Departments and stated there were safety factors involved. After much discussion, the Council decided to put this item on the next regular City Council meeting agenda on Thursday, April 9, 1981. Councilman Runnels stated that he had a comp~int from a citizen living near Gabbard Park concerning the motorcyle riding in the park. Mayor Halter stated there was a $200.00 fine for riding motorcycles in the park. City Manager Bardell stated that he would speak to the Police Department concerning patrolling the area. Mayor Halter announced the Texas Municipal League in Lockhart, Texas will be having a meeting on April 23, 1981 @ 7:30 P.M. Several of the Councilmen pointed out the conflict of the Texas Municipal League's meeting with the Regular City Council Meeting on the same night. Agenda Item No. 2 - Discussion of Ordinance re~ulatin~ the purchases of used Jewelry and certain precious metals. City Attorney Denton stated that he and Tax Assessor-Collector Schroeder had reviewed the proposed ordinance. They suggested adding two (2) additional requirements to the ordinance; (a) record of date and time of purchase be kept, (b) purchaser retain articles, in tact, for 72 hours for the purpose of identification. Agenda Item No. 3 - Discussion of supportin~ the Brazos River Authority in its efforts to obtain appropriation of the funds needed for the Corps of Engineers Lake Millican project. MINUTES Workshop City Council Meeting Wednesday, March 25, 1981 4:00 P.M. Mayor Halter presented the request from the Brazos River Authority for the Council's support of the Lake Millican project. The Council discussed the effect this project would have on the city and its importance as a water supply. City Manager Bardell stated that he would support the project at this stage, as a concept of study, but would reconsider when a concrete plan had been developed in the future. Councilman Kelly moved that the Council support the Lake Millican project in its' early stage of study with their primary interest study being a future water supply. Councilman Boughton seconded the motion that passed unanimously. Agenda Item No. 4 - Closed session to discuss personnel. Council moved to close session later to reopen to the public. Agenda Item No. 5 - Action on closed session. There was no action taken on the closed session. Agenda Item No. 6 - Adjourn. Mayor Halter adjourned the meeting.
