A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO SUPPORT AIKiMENTATIC~ OF
JUV]~IT ,V, UNIT
the dynamic growth of the City of College Station in recemt
years has not been without attendant problems with juvenile
delinquency and crime, and,
the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, has
assisted the City of College Station in establishing a juvenile
unit within the Police Department to cope with the juvenile
problems, and,
a need continues in the Police Department for a specially
trained juvenile unit to work with predelinquent juveniles
with the view of diverting problem youth from the juvenile
justice system to cc~,,~.,nity-based resource agencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OOT,T,FGE STATION, TEXAS, at its meeting on the 25th day of March, 1982
that;
The Mayor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the City
Council to make application to the Governor, for a grant of
$5,884.00 to support the continued augmentation of the juvenile
unit of the Police Department with an additional officer.
2. The Mayor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the City
Council to accept such grant award should it be tendered.
3. This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption and its re-
cording in the Minutes of the City Council is ordered.
