HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/20/1983 - Special Minutes City Council MINUTES SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1983 4:00 P.M. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Halter, Councilmen Boughton Reinke, Runnels, McIlhaney, Anderson, Prause COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Asst. City Manager/Finance Director VanDever, City Secretary Jones, Parks and Recreation Director Beachy, City Planner Mayo VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gary Halter. Councilman McIlhaney inquired if the question of rezoning a portion of Prairie View Heights had been scheduled. City Planner Mayo replied that the item would be placed on the agenda of the April 28th meeting. Councilman Boughton stated that councilmembers planning to attend the TML Institute on June 3-5 needed to finalize their plans. Mayor Halter suggested the possibility of having a combined meeting or social gathering with the Bryan City Council and recommended that the event be held at Central Park. Councilmembers concurred that such a meeting should be ~enda Item No. 1 - Closed session to discuss personnel [6252-1~)]. The Council moved to closed session and later reopened to the public. Agenda Item No. 2 - Action on closed session. Councilman Reinke moved to re-appoint Billy Pickard (4/85), Don Sweeney (4/85), Charles Page (4/85) and a representative to be appointed by Humana Hospital. Councilman Prause seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Reinke moved to appoint Dick Legener (4/84) and Sarah Bednarz (4/84) to the Safety Committee. Councilman Prause seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Runnels moved to appoint Dick Legener (4/84) to the Cemetery Committee. Councilman Reinke seconded the motion which passed unanimously. 003870 SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1983 PAGE 2 Councilman McIlhaney moved to appoint Charles Johnson (4/84) and Cerene Wharton (4/84) to the Community Appearance Committee. Councilman Runnels seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Runnels moved to re-appoint John Richards (4/85) and appoint Betty Dean (4/84) and Rita Keniepp (4/85) to the Community Center Advisory Board and Frank Coulter (4/84) and Douglas Venuti (4/85) to serve as alternates to that committee. Councilman Boughton seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Reinke moved to re-appoint James Noel (4/85) and appoint John Donovan (4/85) to the Easterwood Airport Zoning Board. Councilman McIlhaney seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Prause moved to re-appoint Dr. Robert Chenoweth (4/85) and Robert Harville (4/85) and appoint Anton Slafka (4/85) to the Electrical Examining Board. Councilman McIlhaney seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Boughton moved to re-appoint David Ruesink (4/85) and Ted Nelson (4/85) and to appoint John Crompton (4/85) and Willard Worley (4/84) to the Parks and Recreation Committee. Judy LeUnes to serve as Chairman and Donita Haden as Vice-Chairman. Councilman McIlhaney seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Runnels moved to appoint Ronald A. Kaiser (4/85), Stephen Hansen (4/85), and Raymond Martyn, Jr. (4/85) to the Planning and Zoning Commission, with David Hill as Chairman. Councilman Reinke seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Prause moved to re-appoint Bill Lewis (4/85) and appoint Michael Wagner (4/85) to the Plumbing Appeals and Advisory Board. David Pullen, City Engineer, will serve as staff liaison on the board. Councilman Runnels seconded the motion which passed unanimously. 003R71 SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1983 PAGE 3 Councilman McIlhaney moved to re-appoint Dan Sears (4/85), Tim Coppinger (4/85) and appoint Allen Swoboda (4/85) to the Structural Standards Board/Bldg. Code Board of Adjustments. Rick Pustejovsky (4/84) will serve as alternate and Dan Sears as Chairman. Councilman Boughton seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Boughton moved to re-appoint Violetta Cooke (4/85) as Chairman, Dan McGilvray (4/85) and appoint J. Spencer Wendt (4/84) to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and J.P. McGuirk (4/85) and Dorothy Meyer (4/84) to serve as alternates. Councilman Runnels seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Councilman Boughton discussed the procedure and need for appointing council liaisions to the Planning and Zoning Commission and to the Zoning Board of Adjustments. Councilmembers concurred that this topic would be considred at a future meeting. Also, staff was instructed to place in all council boxes the P&Z and ZBA agendas and related information.
