WHEREAS, the City of College Station has determined the
necessity of expanding existing municipal administrative
offices now located at 1101 Texas Avenue in College Station,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, there is insufficient additional space on land
presently owned by the City to construct the planned
facilities and to provide for parking and access thereto;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is
necessary to obtain the property described as Lot Seven (7),
Block Nine (9), Section II, College Hills Estates, Brazos
County, Texas, and that the public need necessitates the
acquisition of same in such a manner as to make the property
available for lawful use as the site of future municipal
buildings and other public facilities, including parking
space and access thereto; and
WHEREAS, the necessary funds are available to acquire said
property from unappropriated 1981 General Obligation Bond
funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the
City of College Station that the property described as Lot
Seven (7), Block Nine (9), Section II, College Hills
Estates, Brazos County, Texas, shall be acquired by the City
and the reasonable cash market value of same shall be
determined and paid according to law, either by voluntary
purchase or by condemnation, and that the City Manager, the
Mayor, and the City Attorney are authorized to take any and
all necessary actions to obtain thereto, free and clear of
any restrictions or covenants inconsistent with the use of
same for public buildings and parking facilities to be used
for municipal purposes. This resolution expressly
authorizes condemnation proceedings and other necessary
litigation incident to the purposes herein set forth.
