10-14-87-21
WHEREAS, the Citizens of College Station, Texas have for
sometime generated household and commercial solid waste
as a part of their normal day to day activities within
this community; and
WHEREAS, the generation of said waste is likely to
continue for sometime into the future: and
WHEREAS, this City has chosen to provide regular collec-
tions of solid waste to its citizens for a fee; and
WHEREAS, it then becomes prudent business practice to
dispose of said collected solid waste in a thrifty and
practical manner~ and
WHEREAS, after diligent study by professional staff and
appropriate expert consultants it has been determined
that said disposal should be in a sanitary landfill
facility which meets the requirements of the laws of the
State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station desires to comply
with said laws as established and published in the
Municipal Solid Waste Management Regulations of Texas,
from time to time amended by acts of state legislature,
in all aspects of solid waste operations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station,
Texas recognizes that doing so requires a commitment of
materials, resources and monies for such purposes;
THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of College
Station City Council is committed to providing backup
equipment by lease, purchase, or diversion from other
activities for proper operation of its sanitary landfill:
AND FURTHER, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of
College Station City Council is committed to providing
the monies necessary for proper closure of its sanitary
landfill at such t~me as it may become prudent to do so.
